I ordered myself a Custom Shop Carvin back in September. It was the delivered this afternoon. Here’s a few pics. Expect a review soon.
Here is a list on my guitars that I’m currently using or hanging on my wall:
2011 Carvin ST300C (aka Neptune): This Custom Shop axe was built to my specifications in October 2011. Its my goto axe right now. Its a swamp ash, maple neck thru guitar, with ebony fingerboard, stainless steel med-jumbo frets. Abalone signature inlays. No locking nut. Sperzell locking tuners. Frank Gambale signature neck pickup FG22N.
2011 Carvin V220C (aka Andromeda): This guitar was purchased from the Carvin store in Santa Ana, CA during the summer of 2011. Its a simple axe with very few options. But playability and tone make this a killer axe. Basically this is a standard V220 with Floyd Rose (no locking nut), with black chrome hardware. Its also a maple neck thru with an alder body.
Ibanez RG3120DR (aka Mars): This is a Ibanez Prestige model built about 2001. I would have to double check the serial number. They no longer make these Prestige models of this quality anymore. Now they are overpriced for what you get. Its a mahogany body, flame maple top with maple bolt neck. Rosewood fingerboard (the Carvins have ebony fingerboards) with Abalone dot inlays and an abalone Ibanez logo. Ibanez licenced Floyd Rose trem (Edge?) This guitar also comes with factory installed DiMarzio pickups. A ToneZone in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck. Today you pay like $2k and get “IBZ” pickups??
Early 2000s Jackson Dinky DK2 (aka Mercury): This one was an impulse buy of the shelf of a local GC. It actually was used, but played so fast. I swapped out the bridge humbucker for a Seymour Duncan Screamin’ Demon pickup. Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. Shark tooth inlays (plastic?). Alder body with licenced Floyd Rose bridge.
1986 BC Rich ST3 Custom (aka Venus):
